Team Rwanda arrived last night Kingali around 8:00 PM. Our flights from Denver to Washington DC Dulles to Brussels, Belgium, then Brussels to Kingali were on time with no travel issues other than being very long. Don’t think many of us got much sleep but at least we arrived safe and sound.
We were greeted at the airport by Gilbert and his wonderful LWA team. We were all given two roses, hugs and smiles by the LWA team upon arrival. Upon arrival the LWA team loaded all of of the wheelchairs and luggage, about 16 pieces total, into two LWA SUV’s. The rest of us boarded a brand new 29 passenger Toyota tour bus that LWA just purchased. The bus was purchased with funds provided by the First Presbyterian Church of Golden, CO and other donors. Thank you to all of those that donated to the purchase of this bus! It is a wonderful donation to LWA and much appreciated by the mission group from St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton, CO!
We were then taken to the Solace Guest House in Kigali. Upon arrival Gilbert made introductions between this LWA team and our team Rwanda group. Following the introductions we had a very nice buffet dinner of vegetable soup, bread, fresh tropical fruit, slice of pizza and African tea. After dinner we retired to our rooms to unpack and settle in.
This morning we got up and had a very nice buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, tropical fruit, croissants, tea, juice and coffee. We ate on a veranda with a beautiful view of Kigali. What a great way to great the morning. After breakfast we had a devotional led by Peggy Karg.
This morning we are splitting into two groups to attend an Angican church service and a Smaritan House church service. Following that we will be visiting the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Museum. Stay tuned for updates about those adventures by our fellow team members. You will be seeing those updates tomorrow.
