Day 9 (Tuesday) – Back Home Again!

~by Steve Clark~

Team Rwanda arrived back home from our twelve day trip last Tuesday night (March 3rd) about 6:00 PM at Denver International Airport. All the flights were on time with no travel or health issues. We were a bit tired and jet lagged but but home safe and sound. We were glad to be home and sleeping in our own beds but missing the new and old friends that we met at Love With Actions in Rwanda.

Prior to our leaving for the airport in Kigali, we had a farewell gathering at Love With Actions at the main LWA site in Bumgogo. Our team had a sharing and affirmation session where we went around the table and acknowledged each person’s special gifts and the impact that they had on the team and those with LWA.  Following that Gilbert and Ester presented each team member with different types beautiful and unique African clothing. For the women it was skirts, tops and shawls.  For the men it was either short or long sleeve shirts.

After a group photo with our new African clothing, we boarded the transportation bus and drove to Nyandungu Eco-Park in Kigali, Rwanda where we had lunch at a restaurant inside the park.  The Eco-Park is a beautiful open space park with bike and walking paths. After lunch we boarded the bus to the Kigali International Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, we unloaded our bags and said our goodbyes to Ester and Gilbert and the LWA bus driver. We then went started our long journey back to Denver. Team member Audrey Scanlon is staying with Ester and Gilbert for two weeks to do some teaching with Love With Actions.
