Thursday Home Visit

Afternoon Day 5

~ by Susie LeBlanc ~

Lucky is a sweet little guy who, at four months, as a consequence of too many mosquito bites, had developed cerebral malaria, which caused brain swelling, resulting in Autism. When we went into his home, he was sitting upright in a chair built out of cardboard by the LWA therapists. This helped support his body in an upright position while also keeping him from sliding out of the chair. Lucky was very involved in Christian music playing in his home. He was having a lot of fun! I have been amazed at the huge smiles these kids have when we go to visit them!

We were greeted by his sister and Mama Providance, who had a one-month-old baby girl strapped to her back. Like most of the women we visited, his mom was beautiful and soft-spoken. She graciously greeted us with bottles of Fanta. It is apparent that his mommy & daddy love him and take good care of him. They are so grateful that Lucky is being loved and cared for at LWA.

Lucky – what a name for a lucky little boy. To have a loving family and LWA to help him and support from you all – the Rwanda team. I feel grateful for the way God, LWA and help from others supports this family and a precious boy.
