Day 2
~ by Peggy Karg ~
The weather has been cool and damp – even a couple good-sized downpours since our arrival in Kilgali. Today our group was divided between two churches for worship. One group attended an English speaking service at an Anglican Church near our guest house. The other group attended a church in Bumbogo where Pastor Joel, one of our team members, preached the message. This is the service I chose to attend. It was a true Rwandan worship experience, all in the Kinyarwanda language, with about 200 people attending. It lasted almost 3 hours, with 4 choirs – a children’s choir, a youth choir and two adult choirs. All I can say is that they know how to praise God! They sang their hearts out! And the joy and love of God showing on their faces was palpable. And then they started dancing in the center aisle! Pastor Joel’s message, translated by Gilbert, was perfect. He spoke about there being one baptism in Christ and that we all are united in Christ no matter our differences. The Holy Spirit was there!
The afternoon was spent at the Love with Actions Center in Bumbogo. Gilbert created this ministry to support handicapped children and their families. Good Shepherd Academy is a colorful yellow building that opened 16 months ago for preschool classes Under construction since July is an adjacent building that will be used for larger and newer physical and occupational therapy rooms as well as future classrooms. The children and their families joined us for lunch. It was so nice to see Antoinette and Junior and Fiston and other friends that we have known from other visits. Lest we ever wonder if therapy makes a difference, seeing the progress in these children is proof of its importance. It was a meaningful time to spend with the children and their parents.
It was a great Sunday!

Great pictures and your commentary made me feel like I was there with you! Glad Gilbert translated for Joel as he is so fluent in both languages. Continued prayers for the entire team!!
Peggy, I can see the smile on your face. What a nice blog you wrote about attending a church service there. So different , but so meaningful.
These people know who Jesus is!
I am looking forward to tomorrow’s blog. Enjoy your time there.❤️
Thank you Peggy. You painted a great picture with your words. I felt like I was there.
What a neat worship experience! Thank you for sharing, Peggy.
A fine day spent. May you feel the spirit of the Lord in your work.
Love the description of worship and the colorful pictures. They remind me of scenes in Revelation. Well done, Peggy.
I am not surprised that your devotionals start the days well.
The service you attended sounds like one never to be forgotten! It is amazing how much these moms and children suffer but they still are filled with the Joy of Jesus. I wish I could hear the various choirs – heavenly praises! Thanks, Peggy.
